Governor Cuomo: #1 Sweatshop Promoter
Workers at Indus Valley restaurant, exposed the Department of Labor’s delays and failure to resolve complaints when they took to the streets to demand action after waiting 6 years. After more than a month, the workers forced the DOL to act and won!
But we won’t stop here…
In response to workers demanding an end to the delays, the DOL is now only investigating workers’ claims 3 years back instead of the 6 years the law mandates. The message is clear: sweatshops are welcome in NYS and stealing money from workers is not a crime. Furthermore, despite announcements from Cuomo’s administration confusing the public, Governor Cuomo has STILL failed to convene a wage board to increase wages for tipped workers.
On August 20, the Coalition for a Real Minimum Wage Increase will join workers to demand Governor Cuomo stop promoting sweatshops in our state and stand up for workers.
Join us to demand a REAL minimum wage increase and REAL enforcement of labor laws.
