More and more workers are getting cheated of our wages. Some estimate that $1 billion a year is stolen from workers in NYC alone. Not only are employers using many tricks to cheat workers out of pay but they are also using many tactics to avoid paying on wage theft judgments and settlements.
Join the SWEAT Coalition in announcing
“Empty Judgments: The Wage Collection Crisis in New York”,
a report by Legal Aid Society, National Center for Law and Economic Justice, and Urban Justice Center that calculates the millions employers avoid paying in wage theft judgments and orders. We will be joined by workers who face wage theft and the inability to collect, organizations who are fighting wage theft and Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal who will introduce new legislation to address this problem.
We work hard. Shouldn’t we get paid for it?
Join us to take a stand against wage theft!
If you want to join us on the 25th from NYC, meet at 7AM at Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal office, 230 West 72nd Street, New York, NY 10023. To sign up for bus, please contact National Mobilization Against Sweatshops at (212) 358-0295 or email@example.com by Monday, Feb. 23.
