We demand the City Council: Vote to end 24-Hour Workdays in New York City.
Recently a candidate named Arkadiusz T. Tomaszewski who is running on a right-leaning platform to not mask or vaccinate in Brooklyn City Council District 39, appropriated our National Mobilization Against Sweatshops (NMASS) name and affiliation for his printed and digital campaign materials. Ironically, Tomaszewski’s priorities do not include fighting sweatshop conditions such as supporting the bill to end 24-hour shifts in New York City.
We at NMASS oppose this candidate’s misuse of our name. Our communities will never be healthy until we end the root cause of attacks on working people: the racist super-exploitation of workers with abusive conditions like long work hours and wage theft. In New York City, women of color and immigrants have been subjected to 24-hour shifts that have taken an extreme toll on their health, from sleepless nights to chronic pain and depression. This is a crime against humanity. We need to end this brutal attack on working people’s health NOW!
JOIN THE COMMUNITY on NOV 16, 12 noon at CITY HALL to demand City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams bring the No More 24 Bill to a vote!
